Social Investment As a socially responsible company, we make a difference at a grassroots level, through investments that focus on computer literacy and technology-skills development across the country, from Bosmont to Calvinia, and Umtata. Together with business partners such as MTN and Microsoft, we are proud to be involved in projects such as:
	Virtual sky-high office: SBS sponsored a virtual “sky-high office” for microlight pilots Mike Blyth and Olivier Aubert on their epic journey across 20 countries from Chile to Tasmania.
	Computer Centre at Hantam Secondary School in Calvinia: Apart from supplying the school with PCs, desktops, printers, telephone and Diginet lines, and network cabling, SBS Africa and MTN have provided training for six teachers.
	Newclare Adult and Youth Hub, Bosmont: This project promotes computer training and literacy among young people in the area, with SBS Africa specifically donating 10 Compaq computers.
	Centre for the Handicapped in Oceanview, Cape Peninsula:  Children and adults with serious disabilities are benefiting from a donation of Compaq computers and Dragon Point & Speak software.
	Community and Individual Development Association (CIDA), City Campus: Ninety computers have been donated to CIDA, at which over 1200 first and second year students from disadvantaged backgrounds are enrolled for an accredited 4-year management programme.
	The Teddy Bear Clinic: SBS Africa has donated computer equipment to the Teddy Bear Clinic that has helped the organisation to increase the efficiency of the paperwork involved in its day to day running.
	Women & Men Against Child Abuse: SBS Africa has donated computer equipment to Women & Men Against Child Abuse (WMACA) to help the non-profit organisation forge electronic links with other organisations that deal with abused children.  The equipment has been invaluable in helping WMACA to network with other child organisations, the SAPS Child Protection Unit and the Justice Departments.  WMACA is also using the computer equipment to design advertisements for fund-raising and awareness campaigns.
