| PM Tech, SBS Africa in joint venture
PM Tech
, the IT consulting, software development, systems implementation
and support services group, has entered into a joint marketing
venture with
SBS Africa
, the nationally-based value-added reseller (VAR) and IT solutions
supplier.
Mike Leeuwen, a director of PM Tech, says the
agreement has been formulated to help both companies expand their
reach into new markets by extending their respective capabilities
in Oracle-based environments and advanced Microsoft systems
monitoring.
"As our customer profiles are similar, and
we often meet each other in the marketplace, it makes sense for us
to work more closely together to expand the market for our
offerings," he says.
"We'll be able to leverage our common and
our individual skills to the benefit of the customer and be in a
better position to provide higher levels of service, and support
more advanced solutions."
In terms of the agreement, SBS Africa becomes a
reseller of monitoring tools developed by PM Tech's subsidiary, PM
Ora. The company's Enterprise Focus range now includes remote
monitoring and administration solutions for all the popular
databases - Oracle, SQL, DB2 and Sybase, while its Enterprise
Gauge monitors hardware, network and Microsoft, Unix and Linux
operating systems,
"These PM Ora products, particularly those
addressing the Oracle environment, will enable us to widen the
solutions we provide to major clients," says Tony Davies,
Director SBS Africa, which was founded in 1984 and now employs 130
skilled professionals at its Johannesburg head office and Durban
and Cape Town branch offices.
"The addition of these solutions will help
us meet our goal of being a total IT solutions provider, while PM
Tech's expertise in systems monitoring and support will augment
our own hardware and software offerings enabling us to expand our
businesses by addressing new markets together."
SBS has long-standing business partnership
agreements with computer hardware and software suppliers including
HP, Cisco, 3Com, Microsoft, Novell, Network Associates and Veritas,
while PM Tech, in addition to supplying the SMME market with
services, skills and software, provides high level consulting,
design and implementation skills.
"We're looking forward to working together
with SBS Africa in this joint venture as together we have a
formidable pool of expertise and skills able to meet the IT needs
of companies ranging from SMMEs to the largest corporate
enterprise," concludes Leeuwen.
